Abstract
Purpose: The study was done to investigate effects of a parent group counseling program using MBTI(Myers-Brigs Type Indicator) for mother of elementary school students.

Methods: The study was a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants were seven mothers in G City with elementary school students. The mothers received the parenting program applying MBTI for 2 sessions a week over 3 weeks. Data were collected from October to November, 2017 and analyzed using paired t-test with the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program.

Results: there were no significant effects of the parenting program applying MBTI on parenting efficacy(t=-1.62, p=.156) and parent-child communication scores(t=-0.88, p=.413).

Conclusion: The results indicate that the parenting program applying MBTI is an ineffective nursing intervention to improve parenting efficacy and parent-child communication of mother. However a quasi-experimental research design with control group is necessary.
